Keep Annandale green.

Support recreation expansion without making the loss of an established neighbourhood ball diamond and greenspace the price of progress.

What this site is for

Make the community record clearer, not louder.

This is not an anti-Town website. It is a resident-led effort to collect transparent, verifiable input and make sure support for Mall Road is not automatically treated as support for residential redevelopment at Annandale.

Preserve the option to keep Annandale

Ask Council to retain 160 Concession Street East as public recreation, parkland and greenspace rather than converting it to townhouses and apartment buildings.

Evaluate Mall Road separately

A resident can support a new or expanded sportsfield complex at Mall Road and still want Annandale retained. Our survey records those positions separately.

Build an evidence record

Submit documents, studies, historical agreements, planning material, usage data and other source-backed information. Unsupported claims are not presented as fact.

Official project context

What the Town is considering

The Town states that no decision has been made. Its current concept considers residential redevelopment at the Annandale Ball Diamonds, including 4–5 storey apartment buildings and 2–3 storey townhouses, while exploring Mall Road as a modern, expandable sportsfield complex.

The Town also explicitly says the two sites are being reviewed together. That is one of the reasons this site asks separate questions.

Town survey deadline The official online survey is currently scheduled to remain open until September 15, 2026. Residents should complete the Town survey as well as this independent survey so Council receives input through the official process.
The core question

Does building something new require removing what already works?

Annandale Ball Diamonds

Should this established municipal recreation and greenspace site remain public park/recreation land, be modified, or be redeveloped for housing?

Mall Road Site

Should the Town proceed with a new expandable sportsfield complex at Mall Road, and should it add capacity or replace Annandale?

Survey transparency

Why we created a second survey

Several residents have raised concerns about forced-choice housing questions, positively framed redevelopment questions and questions that combine support for both sites. Those design choices can make interpretation difficult.

Our response is not to claim motives. It is to publish a shorter survey that uses balanced scales, includes a clear “retain Annandale” option and separates the two properties.

ImportantThis independent survey does not replace the Town’s consultation. We encourage residents to complete both. Our results should be described as a self-selected community sample, not a scientific random poll.
